Broken Down on Breezy Point

Friday, June 29, 2007

this picture was taken a while ago-it may be about three or four years old now. i was over jerry's house the other day and came across the picture and he was nice enough to give it to me. its on the end of breezy point, so the western most tip of the rockaways. it was an awesome night and me jerry went for a stroll on the beach-all the way down until we couldnt walk anymore. when we got there we saw this sailboat, with a gaping hole in the hull, washed up on shore and left there to die. the main mast was also cracked pretty good if i remember right. it was really intense to see it the way we did, in the pitch black of the middle of the night, like a haunted old pirate ship. we of course climbed up and had a look around. pretty spooky stuff-this jerry took the next morning and im glad he did. very cool memory.

"Rising Son" Characters/Scenery

Monday, June 4, 2007

the main character, Elmer

the Preacher

Elmer's arch enemy Chad

some background stuff

these are a few character model sheets from a cartoon called "Rising Son" my friend pat and i wrote. i dont know that ill get to finish it unless i have some serious help. its too long right now to ever get done, so before i get back to animating it ill have to re-edit the story and chop out a whole bunch of pretty complicated scenes. its too bad too because its a great story. we worked hard on it. the plot, which is complex and intertwined (in the same way arrested development is-i realize now b/c i just watched an episode), rewards the viewer who pays close attention to detail. its really about Elmer trying to find his mom, and if a few of the smaller details and plot twists allude some people, it wouldn't matter because in the end its about a guy trying to figure out his past and get reconnected with the woman who gave him up as a baby. so the overall story arc holds it together throughout and makes Elmer a sympathetic character. hmm...even writing this makes me want to get back to work on it, but i think ill stick to a shorter, more manageable story that i have in the works now...a story that involves the man himself...Mr. Danny DeVito. thats all ill say about that one though!

p.s. lots of crazy coincidences still happening all the time!!! look out for an updated chart soon. i know i said i'de stop posting about it, but i take that back. also, my dad, keith, and i watched Creature Comforts tonight and it was incredible. one of the funniest half hours of TV i have ever seen. watch it next week if you missed it this time around. CBS at 8 pm on mondays. its hard to top Aardman these days, everything they do is amazing. before watching this the funniest thing i had seen in months was purple and brown. they are churning out such great stuff so consistently. their facial animation is phenomenal. im in awe and still laughing about the monkeys picking bugs off each others backs and the old jewish honey bee couple. the whole half hour was too good.
